ABOUT the BOOK

Endoscopy continues to be the most exciting and challenging facet of Gastroenterology, especially for trainees and young consultants. Since its invention and earlier applications, it has evolved much over the decades, fueled by advances in technology. The modern endoscope, with its slender looks, advanced digital optics, variety of movements and working channels, retains its fascination for most Gastroenterologists.

There are three aspects of endoscopy that needs mastering:

(1) Knowing when and why to do a procedure, with an understanding of its limitations, contraindications and risks,

(2) Learning the psychomotor skill required to perform the technique, and

(3)Developing the cognitive skills of identifying, recognizing, and interpreting what is seen through the endoscope.
