ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. RV Jayakumar is presently a Senior Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Aster Medcity, Kochi since June 2016. He was formerly the Professor of Endocrinology at AIMS, Kochi, where he started the DM course in Endocrinology, for the first time in South India.Dr. RV Jayakumar worked in various Government Medical Colleges in Kerala state and was the Professor and Head of Medicine inThiruvananthapuram and Kottayam Medical Colleges. On completion of his graduation from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, he pursued his post-graduation, MD in General Medicine from the same institution in 1973. He continued his academic journey with DM Endocrinology from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh in 1977. Later on, he passedthe Dip. NB examination in Endocrinology in 1978 and subsequently completed MNAMS. In 1982, he passed the MRCP examination from the UK and was later conferred FRCP from Glasgow Royal College, in1995.
